Know Your Rights

If you have been involved  in a motor vehicle accident and have been injured, you need to be aware of the following:

  1. It is important to obtain a Police Accident Report.

  2. Make sure you obtain the full name, address, and insurance information of the other driver(s).

  3. If you are injured, request medical attention at the scene of the accident.

  4. If you are injured, inform the police at the scene of the accident.

  5. If you go to a hospital, make sure to inform the staff/nurses/doctors of all of your injuries.

  6. Most importantly, be aware that in most accidents your medical bills will be paid by No Fault Insurance (car insurance), not your regular health insurance coverage.

  7. Be sure to tell all medical providers it was a car accident so they will bill No Fault Insurance (car insurance), not your health insurance.

  8. An application for No Fault Benefits must be filled out and provided to the insurance company responsible for paying the medical bills within 30 days for the date of your accident to make sure your medical bills and any lost wages are paid.

  9. Motor Vehicle Accident lawsuits have specific time limits for the filing of a lawsuit so be sure to contact our office for further information and to Know Your Rights.
